Video: 3 Good Memoirs Written by Dudes
Watch this video on memoirs written by dudes and other bookish videos on my booktube channel.
Let’s hear it for the boys! This week, we’re going to look at three good memoirs written by dudes.
Of course, there are lots of autobiographies written by lots of fascinating men. I could go highbrow and show off my (alleged) intelligence with recommendations such as The Seven Pillars of Wisdom (which, truth be told, I haven’t read), but why do that when I can talk about Martin Short?
So here are 3 good memoirs written by dudes. Don’t worry, I’ll do one of these for the ladies soon, as well.
1. Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis
I’m a long-time Red Hot Chili Peppers fan. Loooonnng time. In Scar Tissue, lead singer Anthony Kiedis talks about his childhood, adulthood, and slide in and out and in and out of drug addiction. And his many MANY romantic conquests. Seriously, dude got around.
2. Choose Your Own Autobiography by Neil Patrick Harris
We know the actor Neil Patrick Harris from many things, including How I Met Your Mother, Broadway, and Doogie Howser. But, did you know…the MAGICIAN! (Cue the smoke and jazz hands) This book is a lot of fun, and he names names. Oooooh!
3. I Must Say by Martin Short
Yes, I know I’ve lauded this book before, but what the hey, I’m going to do it again. In his autobiography, comedian Martin Short talks about the beginning of his career, his strong friendships, his marriage, and often breaks into character. It’s funny; it’s touching; it’s a must, I must say.
